[edit] Pass the Ball

Needed: Two or more small foam balls. For fun, match the ball to the event (football, baseball, soccer ball, etc).

  • How to Play:
  • Arrange everyone into two teams in a line, one behind the other.
  • The first person should hold the ball with their elbows.
  • The ball is passed to the next person in line. When the ball gets to the last person, they come to the front of the line and start again.
  • The winning team is the first one that gets their starting person to the front again.

Variation: Each team member holds the ball under their chin.
Second Variation: When playing with a large group of multiple teams, for each elimination round make the ball a smaller size.
Optional: Play some lively music while the competition is under way.

Needed: 2 tilted ramps with a hole cut near the end.
8 beanbags; 4 each of two different colors.

How to Play

  • Space the ramps a given distance apart.
  • Divide players into 2 teams, giving each team 4 beanbags of the same color.
  • To play, toss a beanbag and try to get it in the hole on the tilted ramp.
  • If you get the bag in the hole, you score 3 points.
  • Landing on the board of the beanbag toss game scores 1 point.

Variation: Try to knock your opponent's bag off the board.
Second Variation: Can be played indoors with one game board.

aka Redneck Horseshoes, Bulls-Eye Washers

Needed 2 tilted boards with a hole in the center.
OR 2 washer pits, each containing one recessed cup of 4 inches in diameter.

How to Play

    • From cup centers, space pits 25 feet apart.
    • Each player throws two washers toward the opposite cup.
    • The starting contestant throws both washers, one at a time.
    • The second player throws both washers, one at a time.
    • A washer inside the cup scores 5 points.
    • A washer not inside the cup, but closest to the cup, scores 1 point.

aka Double Ladder, Golf Toss, Ladderball, Blongo, Top Toss, Lasso Golf, Bolo Golf, Hillbilly Horseshoes, Hillbilly Golf

Needed 1 game ladder.
6 game bolas; 2 sets of 2 different colors.

How to Play

  • Determine the toss line. Usually 5 paces from the ladder.
  • First player tosses all 3 bolas. Bolas can be bounced off the ground.
  • Second player tosses all 3 bolas.
  • Players can knock-off bolas during the course of the game.
  • Games are played to an exact point total of 21.

Points are determined by which step your bola wraps around. The top step is worth 3 points, the middle step 2 points, and the bottom step is only worth 1 point.
Variation: Use 2 game ladders.
