About the Holiday
Guy Fawkes Day is holiday also known as Gunpowder Day. It commemorates the Gunpowder Conspiracy of 1605 led by none other than Guy Fawkes. The Gunpowder Conspirators of England were attempting to blow up Parliament when they were caught with 36 barrels of readied gunpowder. Needless to say, a stop was put to their plan, and they were brought to justice.
Oddly enough, the English celebrate this holiday with bonfires and fireworks.
