What to Do

Begin by collecting an assortment of bottle caps. Bottle caps can be chosen from empty beer or soda bottles. Also, you can purchase bottle caps for crafts from a craft supply store or you can find specific brands of antique and vintage bottle caps online.

Supplies Directions
  • Bottle Caps
  • Craft Glue/Adhesive or Hot Glue Gun
    • E6000 Craft Adhesive is a great glue for craft making.
  • Small Round Magnets

Clean bottle caps with a mild soap solution or boil, then let them dry.

Place a tiny amount of craft glue into the inside of the bottle cap and attach magnets. Let adhesive dry overnight before using magnet.

  • Bottle Caps
  • Photographs, paper with designs, pictures from magazines, graphics, etc.
    • You can re-size pictures on your computer to fit bottle caps.
  • 1-inch Circular Craft Punch
    • If you do not have a craft punch you can use a quarter and pencil to measure the image.
  • Scissors
  • Craft Glue/Adhesive or Hot Glue Gun
    • E6000 Craft Adhesive is a great glue for craft making.
  • Liquid Casting Resin
  • Small Magnets

Clean bottle caps with a mild soap solution or boil, then let them dry.

Layer your work area with either newspapers or a plastic drop cloth.

Using the craft punch cut out pictures or use the quarter to trace pictures then cut them using scissors. Place a tiny amount of craft glue into the inside of the bottle cap. Place cutout picture on top of glue and press down gently. Dry thoroughly.

Slowly pour resin into each bottle cap, fill to the rim. Let dry overnight. It will turn clear when it is done.

Using craft adhesive, attach magnets to the back of the bottle caps. Let adhesive dry overnight before using magnet.

Tip: You can also make Bottle Cap Thumbtacks, just follow the above directions and attach a thumbtack instead of a magnet to the the bottle caps.
