About the Holiday

On National Doctor's Day show your appreciation to your doctor for all the work they do for you and your family. They work to keep you healthy and when you are sick they work to helping you feel better.

This day was created by Eudora Brown Almond to mark the anniversary of the first use of general anesthesia in surgery. In 1990 it was made a national holiday.
