Today is Mickey Mouse's Birthday. On this day in 1928, Mickey made his debut in an animated short called Steamboat Willie. He quickly became the symbol of the Walt Disney studios. This happy rodent with white gloves and red shorts has become one of the world's best known cartoon characters.

Did you know that Mortimer was the original name Walt Disney had chosen for the mouse? Walt's wife suggested the name Mickey.
