Flitch Day is a day that dates back to the 15th century. If a married couple could prove to a jury of bachelors and maidens thaty they lived in harmony and fidelity for the past year and never once wished themselves unwed then the couple would receive a flitch of bacon from the local monks. Very few couples took home the bacon.
