About the Holiday

Dunce Day marks the death of medieval scholar Duns Scotus celebrating the term dunce and the dunce caps. This brilliant man believed pointed caps would aid in the learning area. The knowledge was to come from the point of the cap into the head of the wearer, potentially making them smarter. Because the hat was so horrid, wearers attempted to learn as much as they could as to not be forced to wear the cap. Hence the negative stigma attached to the Dunce cap.

So, today is all about learning!
