Clerihew Day pays tribute to Edmund Clerihew Bentley who was born on July 10th, 1875 and his creation, the clerihew. The cherihew is a 4-line verse that about a person. The verse starts out with the named person or contains their name in the first line. The last word of the first two lines rhymes with each other as does the last word in the last two lines. The verse is also supposed to be light-hearted or humorous.
