On Child Care Provider Day, show appreciation for the hard work, tireless efforts, and dedication of the people who take care the young children of working parents. The holiday also calls attention to the importance of the high quality and availability of these services. Child Care Provider Day was started in 1996 by a group of volunteers in New Jersey and is appropriately celebrated on the Friday before Mother's Day. Per the United States Census Bureau at Census.gov, "12.5 million (61 percent) of the 20.4 million children under 5 years of age were in some type of regular child care arrangement."
