Batman Day celebrates the world's most popular superhero. Batman's first appearance was in the May 1939 issue of Detective Comics #27 (AKA DC Comics) created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. Batman is sometimes referred to as the Dark Knight or Caped Crusader. The fictional character's real name is Bruce Wayne, the CEO of Wayne Enterprises who, when in bat costume, fights crime in the fictional Gotham City.
