The Aster is the flower of September, and is the floral symbol for the 20th Anniversary of marriage.

About the Flower

Flower Meaning: Talisman of love and a symbol of patience

The Aster is named after the Latin word for star, obviously referencing the flower's shape. But an ancient Greek legend tells the story of the Goddess Astraea, who left Earth to become the constellation Virgo. When Zeus flooded the Earth, only 2 humans survived. Astraea wept in pity for them, and provided starlight to guide them. Her tears fell to Earth and those tears formed the star shaped flower. The Aster is a popular plant for gardens because of its hardiness, and its colorful blooms.

When you send someone Asters, it is a form of romance indicating love, daintiness, and affection.

Colors they come in: Pink, red, white, lilac and mauve.
