About the Holiday

Pretzel Day is a day to celebrate a traditional snack food, and the second most popular snack in the United States. Pretzels date back to 610 A.D. when a monk made these treats for some of his students. The pretzel is thought to be the world's oldest snack food, and there unique folded shape represents folded arms, which is how people prayed in ancient times instead of kneeling. This salty snack, of dough has made it's way through history, and is now served in many variations from coated pretzels, hard pretzels, to the warm soft pretzel.
