About the Holiday

National Trails Day is the only nationwide celebration of trails. The goal of today is to bring awareness to trails and thanks the many volunteers, land agencies, and outdoor minded businesses for their help in developing and maintaining the trails. The 200,000 miles of trails allow us to get close to nature for education, exploration and recreation. Trails allow us to get exercise or just to escape the busy fast-paced world for some solitude.
