About the Holiday

Boone Day is a day to commemorate when frontiersman Daniel Boone first saw the forests and valleys of present day Kentucky on June 7th, 1769. For more than a century, the Kentucky Historical Society has observed June 7th as Boone Day.[1] Daniel Boone was one of the early folk heroes of the United States and even had founded his own town Boonesborough, Kentucky which still exists as an unincorporated community today.
