What is Anime?

Anime (ān'ə-mā') n. A style of animation developed in Japan, characterized by stylized colorful art and often adult themes.

Anime is an abbreviation of the English word "animation", originating in Japan.
In Japan, Manga can refer to both animated cartoons and comics.


One of the most popular directors of Anime is Hayao Miyazaki

Some of his most popular titles include: Nausicaa (aka Warriors of the Wind), Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke , My Neighbor Toturo, and Laputa - The Flying Island (aka Castle in the Sky).
