About the Holiday

National Tempura Day celebrates the popular Japanese dish of Tempura which is seafood or vegetables that have been lightly battered and deep fried. Although, closely associated with Japanese cuisine, Tempura was actually introduced to Japan in the mid-sixteenth century by the Portuguese.[1]
