About the Holiday

National Dog Day was created by the National Dog Day Foundation to serve two purposes. The first is to honor dogs who do so much for us. They give us companionship, keep us safe, and aid those in need. The second purpose is rescue homeless and abused dogs. The foundation's motto is, "Saving 10,000 Dogs - One Day at a Time"
