About the Holiday

Forefathers' Day celebrates the Pilgrim's landing in Plymouth, Massachusetts on December 21st, 1620. It's interesting to note that the date of the Mayflower's landing is one day different than the official date of this holiday. This is because when this holiday's date was converted to the Gregorian calendar, an error was made and this holiday was originally celebrated on December 22nd. Tradition has taken hold and most references list 12/22 as the official date. This holiday originated in Plymouth in 1769 and is commonly celebrated in the New England area.
